I have run into a Side-by-side configuration error, reloading a Northstar system on an Avery Dennison PC. When I reinstalled Northstar and launched Navigator I got a Side-by-side configuration error. Ran SxSTrace.exe, and then launch Navigator again. Opened the SxSTrace.txt file and found that the version 8.0. Redistributable did not load properly. Located the redistributable (x86 and x64, link is below) on Microsofts site, downloaded & installed the x86 and X64 versions. Then launched navigator, and this time it launched.

Method 1: Find out which Visual C++ Runtime Library is missing

1.Press Windows Key + X then select Command Prompt (Admin).

2.Type the following command into cmd to start trace mode and hit Enter:

SxsTrace Trace -logfile:SxsTrace.etl

3.Now don’t close the cmd, just open the application which is giving the side-by-side configuration error and click OK to close the error pop-up box.

4.Switch back to the cmd and hit Enter which will stop the tracking mode.

5.Now in order to convert the dumped trace file into human readable form, we will need to parse this file using sxstrace tool and in order to that enter this command into cmd:

sxstrace Parse -logfile:SxSTrace.etl -outfile:SxSTrace.txt

6.The file will be parsed and will be saved into C:\Windows\system32\ directory. Press Windows Key + R then type the following and hit Enter:

7.This will open the SxSTrace.txt file which will have all the information about the error.
