The Raster Image Processor accepts bitmap image data and converts it to a format necessary for output to the imaging device. The Image Blaster is similar to Xitron’s Navigator RIP, or other Harlequin rips, except it requires a bitmap image as input. It is not possible to interpret Adobe Postscript or PDF files with RasterBlaster.
When processing an image file, RasterBlaster uses the collection of settings in a Page Setup to determine the Imaging options used to process a job. For instance, you may want to have separate page setups for each resolution or plate size you want to image.
Note that your RasterBlaster system may ship with page setups for your device preconfigured.
Creating a New Page Setup
- Choose the Page Setup Manager option from the RasterBlaster menu.
- In the Page Setup Manager, select a Page Setup. Default Page Setup is a safe choice: select it and click Edit to display the Edit Page Setup dialog box. If you want to create a new Page Setup, the easiest way is to copy the Default PageSetup. Select Default Page Setup and click Copy to display the New Page Setup dialog box.
- In the Edit Page Setup dialog box, set the Device to the name of the device you are using. If your device doesn’t appear, you may not have the correct output plugin installed. Set the Vertical and Horizontal resolutions to the resolution you want to image at. Set the Separation Style to Monochrome (Halftone). If you change the Device, you must choose a separations style listed in the Style drop-down list and, for some devices, a cassette name from the Cassette drop-down list.
- Click the Configure device button to set plug-in configuration options for your imaging device. For more information about plug-in settings, consult the plug-in manual for your device.
