Plate devices are used in RasterBlaster to link workflows to a physical plate type/size. For example, consider an installation where RasterBlaster is supporting two different presses, a Heidelberg MO and Heidelberg Printmaster. Since each press requires a different plate size, two different plate devices must be configured in the system.

Log-in to the Navigator Server

From the Navigator Server dialog, click the Server Setup menu.

Select Administrator Login.

Enter the Administrator password. By default, there is no password. Simply push the OK button and leave the Password field blank.

Open Manage Devices

Select Manage Devices

Add a new device

Click the button to add a new device.

Add a device

Enter in a name for the plate device. Typically, it's best to name that after a printing press.

From the Device Type menu, select Plate

Click the OK button.

Configure Plate Device

Enter in width, height and margin information.

Note that for plug-ins that use the cassette feature built-into the RIP, like Screen PTR devices, it may also be necessary to enter this data in the Page Setup in the RasterBlaster Image Processor.

Save Changes

Click the Apply button to save the plate devices. Repeat the process for every plate type required.

Applying the device

The device created in the server now becomes a choosable system device in the client under either Direct Output or Rip Output.
