The purpose of this article is to explain how to create and use Manual Calibrations.

To create a Manual Calibration, you must first activate Manual Calibration in the Render Configuration tab of NCE.

  1. Open the NCE in a Web browser of your choice
  2. Go to the Render Configs tab
  3. Select the Render Config that wish to edit
  4. Check the box for Manual Calibration
  5. Click the Check Mark to save the setting.
  6. Click on any other tab in the NCE and the Manual Calibration tab will appear.

Now that the Manual Calibration tab is displayed click on it. This will open the Manual Calibration tab and allow you to Create and Modify custom Manual Calibrations.

About Manual Calibration

  1. List of Manual Calibrations
  2. Plus Sign – Add/Create new Manual Calibration
  3. Trach Can – Delect displayed Manual Calibration
  4. Comment field 
  5. Channel selector
  6. Copy data from 
  7. Channel selector
     When 5, 6 & 7 are used together you can quickly set the values from #5’s channel to #7’s channel.
  8. Clear – clears all fields
  9. Interpolate – Use this to auto enter values for any missing value
  10. Reset to linear – resets all percentages below back to default
  11. Limit solid “Channel” to a set percentage
  12. Manually edit a Calibration
  13. Use these curves as default-allows you to set the custom values as the default for the other channels
  14. If #13 has been set, then this clears the default curves
  15. Thumbnail of the curve entered
  16. Check Mark – Saves the data

To create a new Ink Limited Manual Calibration 

  1. Click on the plus sign icon next to the trash can icon. This will open a window to name the calibration.

     
  2. Enter a name for the Manual Calibration and click OK.
    IMPORTANT note about naming – HP DFE ONLY!!! You must name the Manual Calibration the same as the Color Profile in the Color Profiles tab.

  3. In the Manual Calibration field you will now see the name of the calibration that you just made.

  4. Under Color, Cyan should be selected. Leave as is.
  5. Go to “Limit Solid Cyan to” and enter that value that you wish to limit the Cyan channel.
  6. Click the Check Mark to save the value

     
  7. Go Back to Color (Step 4) and change Cyan to Magenta
  8. Go to “Limit Solid Magenta to” and enter that value that you wish to limit the Magenta channel.
  9. Click the Check Mark to save the value
  10. Go Back to Color (Step 4) change Magenta to Yellow
  11. Go to “Limit Solid Yellow to” and enter that value that you wish to limit the Yellow channel.
  12. Click the Check Mark to save the value
  13. Go Back to Color (Step 4) change Yellow to Black
  14. Go to “Limit Solid Black to” and enter that value that you wish to limit the Black channel.
  15. Click the Check Mark to save the value
  16. Once you have made your changes to the Limit Solid field for each channel you have completed making a Manual Calibration to limit the ink.


To apply a Manual Calibration you must go back to the Render Config tab, select the Render Config that you wish to apply the Calibration from the drop down menu and select the new Manual Calibration in the Calibration drop down menu.
