We have made changes to how we handle the REST communications option in the HP DFE server. This update was necessary to address an issue where Xitron had REST disabled, affecting status communications like printer online/offline status and ink level percentages as seen in the screenshot.
The new options provide more control and flexibility to toggle the control back and forth between the two interfaces, enhancing the user experience.
These changes are specifically for OEM customers who have their own UIs or controls.
Turning off the communications channel was to allow an OEM partner's user interface (UI) to communicate and control settings.
We now have three options:
- Full Control: This allows the Navigator DFE to control functions such as Pen-to-Paper Spacing or the Top-of-Form Offset and provide full printer status update information. If an OEM's interface overlaps these areas, its REST interface communication will likely be interrupted or disabled.
- Status Only: The Navigator DFE will receive information about the printer, such as page count and ink levels, but control settings (e.g., TOF offset) will not be honored. These settings must be managed through an OEM interface.
- Disabled: All REST communication is severed. You will not receive status updates, control settings, or be able to print in this mode.
