If you attempt to launch Navigator Plate Controller and it immediately shuts down or fails to stay open, it may be caused by a missing runtime component or a corrupted stored job or setup file. The following steps can help you identify and resolve the issue:

1. Reinstall Visual C++ Runtime

The Plate Controller depends on the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime to operate correctly. Locate and run the Visual C++ Runtime installer provided with the system, or download the appropriate version from Microsoft's website. After installation, restart the Plate Controller and check if it stays open.

2. Check for Corrupt Stored Jobs or Setups

If reinstalling the runtime does not resolve the issue, the crash may be due to a corrupted job or setup configuration.

  • Stored jobs are located in:
     C:\ProgramData\Xitron\Navigator Plate Controller\Folders\Storage\Plate Controller
  • Each queue has its own subfolder, named after the queue.

Steps:

  • First, back up all subfolders to preserve existing data.
  • Then, delete the contents (but not the folders themselves) of each queue’s subfolder.

To minimize data loss and narrow down the issue more efficiently, consider starting by removing only the jobs submitted in the last day or two—especially if the problem is new. It's more likely the corruption is related to a recent job, rather than something submitted weeks earlier.

  • Relaunch the Plate Controller.

If the application starts successfully, the issue was likely caused by one of the recently deleted jobs or setups. You can reintroduce files incrementally to identify the specific one causing the crash
