How to create a Device Link Profile in i1Profiler
In order to create a Device link Profile in i1Profiler you must have an active license. If you have an i1Pro 2 device then you will need to have it plugged into the computer that is running i1Profiler.
Begin by saving the ICC profile that you wish to create the Device Link Profile from to a location that is readily accessible.
Launch i1Profiler and wait for the software to recognize the i1Pro 2. You will get green check marks under licensing of all elements like the image below.
Now in the left hand column under Printer>Workflow selection: click on Device Link Profiling.
This will open a new window asking to Select Source Profile (the custom ICC profile), Click on Load button.
Browse to the Source Profile, select it, and open it.
Wait for the software to load the profile. It will look similar to the image after step 6.
Now click the Next Button
In this window you will now select the Destination Profile (GRACol, SWOP, Fogra). Click the Load button.
Browse to the Destination Profile, select it, and open it.
A window that says Resolve Mismatch my popup. Match the Source to the Destination. In this case M1 (D50) for the Source and M1 (D50) for the Destination.
Wait for the software to load the profile. It will look similar to the image after step 11.
Now click the Next Button
In this new window you will select the Device Link Profile Setting. The image below shows the values that I used to set Black and grays to be left as is.
Once you have your setting configured click on the Next Button.
Name the Profile
Set the location to where the profile will be written
Click Create and Save Profile button
The generation of the Device Link Profile will take a minute or two.
When it completes you will get the message “Profile created successfully”.
I recommend that you save the workflow. Click on Save Workflow in the bottom right hand corner of the window.
Once you have the DLP you will then copy it into the ICCProfiles folder of the server.
c:\Navigator\Navigator\Config\RenderConfig\ICC Profiles
Once you have copied the DLP file into the above location go to the NCE and then go to the Color Profiles tab.
Select the Color Profile using the original ICC Profile and copy it.
Name it something useful.
The Output profile will stay the same (original ICC profile).
The DLP goes into the Input CMYK profile [replace the standard ICC (usually one of the GRACol profiles) with the new DLP that you made above.]
