Troubleshooting: Getting the Render Action to Come Online
Licensing:
The first thing to check is the license. Open the LDK Tool, and click on display keys. Make sure that the license is perpetual or timed, but not expired. If that is OK, then you will need to go into the Server and check the Render Action. You need to make sure that it is connected.
Go to the server and open Manage Workflow Actions...
Select Render Action, and then click edit Action button.
Click Configure
Should show Local in the drop-down menu and "Connected: Available RIPs: 1
Connected:
Not Connected:
If it is not connected, then you will need close Navigator and check the XiShare and XiSpooler_1 shares.
Checking and Modifying the Shares:
- Open Computer Management
- Select Shared Folders
- Select Shares
- Get Properties on the XiShare and XiSpooler_1 folders
- Go to the Share Permissions tab and make sure that there is a "Group or user names:" for Everyone. If the is not click Add… button
- Type “Everyone” in the Enter the object names to select field and click OK
- Now check all the boxes under the Allow field in the Permissions for Everyone section, and then click OK.
- Then go to the security tab and select the Edit… button
- Click Add… button
- Type “Everyone” in the Enter the object names to select field and click OK
- Select Everyone, check all the boxes under the Allow field in the Permissions for Everyone section, and then click OK
- The Security tab should then look like the image below. Click OK again.
This must be done for both the XiShare and Xispooler_1 folders.
Now launch Navigator server and Render action should display as having connected to 1 RIP. If not there is one last item to check and that is the network. The network needs to be set as a Private network, and not a Public one. The following are the procedures for changing the network to Private network.
Switch procedure to “Private Network:
In case of current network is “Unidentified network” and “Public network”, you MUST switch to
“Private network” to enable file sharing and response of ping command to other PCs.
- From the “Start” menu search “Local Security Policy” and launch it.
- The following window will be displayed. Select “Network List Manager Policies” in the left-hand panel, and double click “Unidentified Networks”.
The following window will be displayed. Select “Private” at “Location type” and click the “OK” button. Then close the “Local Security Policy” window.
