The purpose of this article is to provide directions on adding the i1Pro2 or i1Pro3 devices to Navigator DFE to be used within the NCE to scan calibration targets.

Installing the i1Pro2:

Before running the batch file, exit out of the Navigator Server. If you don’t do this, the lines added to XiWebServer.ini may be deleted as the file will be overwritten when exiting the server. I would suggest rebooting if you install the drivers, even if the driver installer doesn’t prompt you to do so.

  1. Unzip the file "i1Pro2 & i1Pro3_Install Bits.zip"
  2. Browse to the file "i1Pro2-Install.bat" and run it as an Administrator
    The batch file will copy the necessary files where they will need to be and add the lines to the appropriate ini file. The device drivers can be installed manually if needed.

    The install batch file does the following:
    Overwrites any existing files in C:\Navigator\Navigator\Config\Calibration Templates with those stored in Calibration Templates.
    Copies the contents from within Webserver into C:\Navigator\Navigator\WebServer.
    Copies the files necessary specifically for the i1Pro2 for the web server to see the device from Webserver\i1Pro2 to C:\Navigator\Navigator\WebServer.
    Copies the contents of Linear_Calibration to C:\Navigator\Renderers\NR_1\SW\Config\Profiles\CMYK.

    Adds the following lines to %appdata%\Xitron\Navigator\XiWebServer.ini
    [Calibration]
    NumberOfCalibrationPatches=11
    SpectrophotometerName=i1Pro2

Installing the i1Pro3:

Before running the batch file, exit out of the Navigator Server. If you don’t do this, the lines added to XiWebServer.ini may be deleted as the file will be overwritten when exiting the server. I would suggest rebooting if you install the drivers, even if the driver installer doesn’t prompt you to do so.

  1. Unzip the file "i1Pro2 & i1Pro3_Install Bits.zip"
  2. Browse to the file "i1Pro3-Install.bat" and run it as an Administrator

    Copies the files necessary specifically for the i1Pro3 for the web server to see the device from Webserver\i1Pro3 to C:\Navigator\Navigator\WebServer.
    Copies the contents of Linear_Calibration to C:\Navigator\Renderers\NR_1\SW\Config\Profiles\CMYK.

    Adds the following lines to %appdata%\Xitron\Navigator\XiWebServer.ini
    [Calibration]
    NumberOfCalibrationPatches=11
    SpectrophotometerName=i1Pro3

Using the i1Pro2 & i1Pro3 in the NCE to scan the targets:

  1. Plugin the i1Pro2 or i1Pro3 to the Server PC
  2. Launch Navigator server and then open the NCE
  3. In the NCE go to the Calibration tab
  4. In the Calibration tab select the Paper profile that you wish to modify from the drop down menu
  5. Click Print Calibrated target
    This will send two jobs to the DFE: "PushCalibrationJob.ps " and "CalibratedTarget.ps"
  6. Cancel and trash the job PushCalibrationJob.ps.
  7. Run the job CalibratedTarget.ps through the DFE
  8. Once you have run the target you will now scan it
  9. Go back to the NCE and make sure the i1Pro2 or i1Pro3 show up as connected devices under Target scanning
  10. If is reads "Failed to connect device" click the button "Reset spectro"
  11. Now that the i1Pro is connected click the button "Calibrate specto"
    Calibrating the spectrophotometer will require you to hold the side button in for several seconds before it will be calibrated.
  12. Once the i1Pro is calibrated you will now scan the target.
  13. Under Target Scanning Click Cyan Target and then scan the Cyan targets. Repeat for each channel.
    Scanning the targets requires that each color will need to be scanned in two passes. This has to do with the API used for the i1Pro2 and i1Pro3. Start the scan outside of the color ramps and end it outside of the color ramps. Do not attempt to start the scan from within the first box of the color ramps. You can scale the output if you need to.
