In a Navigator RIP with a Screen Blue Box interface kit environment, when everything is connected and online, Navigator RIP communicates with the CTP to populate a ‘VirtualMagazine.ini’ file. This file shows how the Printing Machines are defined in the CTP and then are select-able in ‘Configure Device’ within the Page Setup Manager of Navigator RIP.

When Navigator RIP is connected to a Screen CTP, it will look for the ‘VirtualMagazine.ini’ file. If that’s not in the directory, it will create a new one in the C:\Navigator\Navigator 13.0r1\SW\Devices\ScreenDTR folder.

We had an unusual occurrence recently, where the ‘VirtualMagazine.ini’ file would not get generated automatically and as a result we had to create the ‘VirtualMagazine.ini’ by hand. We had the technician take photos of each Printing Machine in the Screen PTR menu and I created the ‘VirtualMagazine.ini’ by hand.

We tested each workflow and got the proper response from the CTP.
