Summary

During troubleshooting, it was discovered that Cloudflow failed to initialize correctly during the initial installation, preventing Cloudflow from starting properly. The following procedure was used to resolve the issue by resetting the Cloudflow configuration and allowing a clean reinstallation.

Background

The Cloudflow component within Xitron Navigator may occasionally fail to install properly if the User Account Controls (UAC) is not setup correctly and/or if Anti-Virus software is running during the install. This issue prevents proper communication between the Navigator server and Cloudflow services.

Steps Taken to Resolve

  1. Close Navigator. Ensure Navigator is completely closed before proceeding.
  2. Access the Application Data Directory: Open File Explorer, enter %appdata% in the address bar, and navigate to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Xitron\Navigator.
  3. Locate and move the CF.ini file: Find CF.ini and move it to the Desktop (this effectively backs it up).
  4. Restart Navigator.
  5. Reinstall Cloudflow automatically: During the server startup process, the Cloudflow installer prompt will appear. Click Yes to allow the installer to run and let the system complete the installation.
  6. Confirm installation completion: Once installation finishes, the Server window will minimize and Navigator will be ready for use.
  7. Verify Cloudflow initialization: Open the Server window and review the log — it should show 'Cloudflow initialized' confirming successful installation.

Notes & Recommendations

  • Retain the backed-up CF.ini file temporarily in case configuration details need to be reviewed.
  • If Cloudflow continues to fail after these steps, consider reinstalling Navigator or checking for permission issues in the AppData directory.
  • Always ensure Navigator and its components have administrator privileges during installation.
